Trail Development & MaintenanceThe PVTA receives funding from the Pemberton Valley Utilities & Services committee (PVUS), memberships, donations and grants. The money is spent primarily on trail projects throughout spring to fall. Professional trail builders are employed to carry out the work and Trail Days are held throughout the year for the community to come help out on, learn, meet the team and have fun! The paid PVTA trail crew are only able to keep up with a small amount of the trail maintenance required in the Valley, a large proportion of the work is still done by many dedicated volunteers in the area, we thank you!

In 2020 The Pemberton Trails Master Plan was released after a multi year process. This important document was signed off on by the Líl̓wat Nation, RSTBC, VOP and the PTVA. It is actively used as an important resource when thinking about building new trails and looking after existing ones.
Since 2022 a Trails Working Group was created which includes representatives from the Líl̓wat Lands & Resource department, RSTBC, SLRD, PVTA, PORCA, PWA, SPS, SCF, VOP. We work together as a united front to help guide the Trail Planning process in Pemberton. Our work plan is shared and no major work is done without respectful consent. There is a process that we honour, we support each other and we believe that is the true and right way.

Community Trail Maintenance Program
In 2024, the PVTA launched a new Community Trail Maintenance Program, which aims to recognize and support dedicated volunteers who quietly put hundreds of hours into Pemberton's trail network every year. If you perform maintenance or remove deadfall on existing trails and this is the first you're hearing about it, please reach out to [email protected] to determine your eligibility. You can also learn more about this program here.
The PVTA is grateful to the Devinci Community Grant Program for providing funding towards this program, in addition to generous PVTA members and donors whose financial contributions help to support this work.

A Nature Nerd's Perspective to Sustainable Trail Building and Maintenance
In partnership between the Pemberton and District Public Library and Veronica Woodruff of the Stewardship Pemberton Society and the Pemberton Wildlife Association the below video was created in consultation with Pemberton Off-road Cycling Association (PORCA) and Pemberton Valley Trails Association (PVTA) and celebrates the newly formed Pemberton Recreational Trails Plan Monitoring Committee. A collab committee launched to help support amazingly sustainable trail networks in Pemberton.
This talk is about the evolution of trail use and management, what has been done really well and how we can collaboratively improve in the future for the protection of species and habitat while maintaining great recreational trail networks.
