Lil’wat Nation / Lil’wat Forestry Ventures, through their First Nation Woodland Licence have started harvesting in the Railroad Creek area. The harvesting areas are accessed via the Old Hurley Mainline. The bottom of the old Hurley Mainline, where it branches off the Upper Lillooet River FSR, will be signed to warn recreation users of active operations. Also the junction of the Hurley FSR and the Tenquille Branch (10km on the Hurley) will be signed to warn recreation users of downslope harvesting activities. This round of harvesting started April 18th and is expected to run until mid-June. Please respect the signs and stay safe! For further info please visit: https://lilwat.ca/business/business/ Harvesting Activities in Mackenzie Basin on are ongoing. The Mackenzie Basin FSR has been plowed, 4x4/chains currently recommended if driving this road. There is still snow covering the ground at the block locations.Harvesting activities in the blocks will be ongoing until approximately March 1st, 2022. During harvesting activities, the Mackenzie Basin Forest Service Road may be closed for short periods of time to ensure safety during harvesting activities.
“The Spel̓kúmtn Community Forest (SCF) will be conducting harvesting operations in the Mackenzie area over the next couple of months. The “Do not Enter” sign posted at the start of the Mackenzie Basin road is in reference to “Do not enter active logging areas” and is meant to communicate to people to not enter areas of active operations (the entry points are the new and rebuilt roads referenced above, the road junctions are signed). So the FSR is open to public use throughout the period active logging is ongoing, just need to communicate to people please do not enter areas signed as active.
Well, another year has come and gone. It has been unique and difficult times for all of us the last couple times around the sun, but I am always grateful that we have the amazing escape here in Pemberton on our trails throughout the valley. We are so fortunate to have this resource literally in our backyard and I am constantly in awe of the monumental work of the legion of incredible trail builders that have made our network what it is. We are a small Village of dedicated trails users who help maintain this world class trail system. I hope we are all proud of and appreciate this! As always, I am humbled to be a steward of our trails and thank you for your support, feedback, and of course membership.
The PVTA saw some of our recent Directors retire over the past year and we’d like to give them all a heartfelt thanks for everything that they’ve given to our community and the PVTA. Nothing that the PVTA has done would be possible without these people volunteering their time and effort: Graham Haywood (Director of Fundraising), Bill Stiles (President), Patty Peters (Treasurer), Anne West (Secretary/Interim President), Brenda Williams (Equestrian Rep).
We'd also like to thank our first ever Executive Director, Stuart Gillis for his work over the past year. The PVTA is excited to welcome some new members to our team! We are all passionate individuals who are looking forward to working on making Pemberton’s trail network better for all users. Have a look at our current fabulous board members found on our website, https://www.pembertontrails.com/governance Are you a Pemberton Trail User? We need your opinion!
The responses will give us feedback to know which sections of the trail are used most frequently, where users would like to see more maintenance, and much more. Thank you for your valuable input and taking the time to answer our survey. SURVEY IS NOW CLOSED Well, it’s almost another year done and this year was certainly not without its challenges for everyone. I am always grateful to live in this bike crazy village, with amazing and diverse bike trails and range of riders we have here. Small village, great trails, better riders.
